Frequently Asked Questions

We know starting something new can come with questions and we’re here to make things easy.

This page answers some of the most common questions our patients ask, from what to expect at your first visit to how we personalise your treatment.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for, just give us a call — we’re always happy to help.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

At your first visit to Broome Physio, your physiotherapist will take the time to understand your concerns, medical history, and goals. We’ll do a detailed assessment of your movement, strength, and function, and work with you to create a personalised treatment plan. You’ll usually also receive hands-on treatment or exercises to start you on the right path straight away.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

No referral is needed to see us at Broome Physio. You can book directly with our clinic. If you have an EPC (Enhanced Primary Care) plan from your GP for Medicare-subsidised sessions, or a DVA, WorkCover, or insurance claim, please bring the relevant paperwork to your appointment.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring any relevant medical reports, scan results, or referrals, as well as comfortable clothing that allows us to assess your movement. If you’re attending for a lower limb issue, shorts are ideal; for upper body or neck concerns, a singlet or loose top can be helpful

Do you offer Pilates or exercise-based rehab?

Yes — Broome Physio has a dedicated gym area for exercise-based rehabilitation, as well as private spaces for 1:1 Clinical Pilates. We offer both mat and reformer Pilates sessions designed for individualised care, with a focus on retraining functional movement patterns to support recovery and prevent re-injury.

For those who prefer to train outside the clinic, we can meet you at the gym to set up a personalised program tailored to your injury and goals. We can also provide your exercises through our easy-to-use app-based software, so you can track progress and stay on top of your rehab anytime, anywhere.

Can you help with TMJ (jaw) pain?

Yes — our physiotherapists, including Suze, have extra training in managing jaw pain and TMJ dysfunction. We help with jaw clicking, pain with chewing, headaches, and hypermobility-related jaw issues using a combination of education, exercises, manual therapy, and lifestyle strategies.

Do you treat children?

Absolutely. Broome Physio works with children for a range of needs, from sports injuries and postural concerns to neurological conditions and developmental delays. We make sure each session is age-appropriate, engaging, and supportive.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept EFTPOS, credit cards, cash, and can process private health fund claims on the spot through HICAPS. Medicare, DVA, and WorkCover claims can be processed directly with the right paperwork.

Where is Broome Physio located?

We’re conveniently located in Chinatown with easy free parking available right out the front and disability access should you require it. You can find our address, map, and directions on our Contact page.
